Map of Southern Sinai

The Front

The Back of the map

I am a Sinai enthusiast, from camping and hiking to eventually maps. Since I have a real deep interest in maps, I have been monitoring all the maps that have been in the market since year 1999. I have noticed that none are Egyptian made. Moreover, the only map of Sinai that had a great reputation of being the best map of Southern Sinai disappeared from the market since about 5 years ago. That is one of the reasons why I have dedicated my own personal time and effort to come with this project.

This map was designed not only for the common tourist but also for the adventurous kind like campers, hikers, off-roaders and peak hunters. It is mainly a general scheme of the valleys with the least amount of information that one needs to venture in the area.
It has only 3 layers of topography presenting the flat ground, the mountain border and the mountain peak. Therefore it is important to mention that many of the short narrow valleys are representing mountain cracks that are not necessary hikable and flat as one would think, but in comparison to the mountain that would be the lowest ground and when it ends that means the path ends starting with the vertical of a mountain. These are mostly the endings of wider valleys. They are done to present a general idea of the mountains' paths and can be used as guide lines and/or reference points.

The front of the map shows all the asphalt roads, all the main cities, airfields and airports, windsurf areas, all off-road tracks, all camel and hiking trails, water holes, springs, oases, National park areas and closed areas, 65 natural touristic attractions, all mountain names and their peak heights with their contour scheme in relation to the flat ground and finally 19 general diving areas.

The back of the map has an introduction area explaining the 2 layers topography map and an important information section that gives general advice about the do and the don'ts about safari trip. Another section offers informative descriptions about 65 of the most beautiful places in southern Sinai desert. Finally, the prime spots section description: Sharm El Sheikh, St. Katrine, Nuweba', Dahab, and the camp area between Nuweba' and Taba.
